She Kept the gate open,
its squeak kept her alert,
she dances round the kitchen twice,
until her ankles hurt.
She Kept an old photo,
its corners turning brown.
she sits and watches the fire place,
an elegant carpeted ground.
She kept the tears
they wouldn't leave,
she kept the letter,
they helped her grieve.
She kept hoping,
for him to return,
She Kept Wishing
Shell never learn.
